One of the best fantasy titles available is Fate/Stay Night. It started as a visual novel game and then adapted into manga and anime. It’s also adapted into several games, including Fate/Grand Order. It’s a role-playing game published by Aniplex Inc in Japan on July 29, 2015. In this game, you play the role of a Master who summons and controls powerful familiars known as Servants.

The story of the game revolves around the possibility of mankind’s extinction because of an unknown cause. You’ll join in a grand order battle to fight fate and change the past and restore the future. It’s a fun and interesting game that you’ll enjoy playing. But it can also be a bit overwhelming and confusing to play, especially to those who are new.

Fortunately, this blog post will be a Fate/Grand Order guide. It will provide a beginner’s guide to playing the exciting role-playing game.

Fate/Grand Order Gameplay

To help you understand Fate/Grand Order better, let’s first discuss the basic gameplay. The main part of this RPG will be the battle sequence since this is what you’ll do most of the time. The battle is card-based and you’ll be using cards for commanding your servants in the game. As the master, you need to build a team of 6 servants and then use them to battle various enemies. What’s interesting here is that the servants are historical, literary, and mythological figures from different cultures.

So, expect to see names such as King Arthur, Lancelot, Medusa, Genghis Khan, and so on. Out of the 6 servants, you’ll use3 active and 3 reserved players. Each player will have 5 command cards to start and you are allowed to use up to 3 in a turn. To begin your turn, you then draw a card to command your servant. The goal is to defeat all enemies before they defeat you.

Furthermore, there are many different servants available in Fate/Grand Order. You can acquire servants using a gacha system and you use Saint Quartz to summon them. It’s important to remember the gacha mechanic used will yield random servants. This means that you can’t really dictate the servants you will acquire since it’s going to be random and based on percentages. This is the basics of the gameplay, you’ll be battling and summoning most of the time.

Learning About the FGO Servants

There are many different servants available, but all of them will belong to 1 of the 14 classes. The classes are Caster, Assassin, Shielder, Saber, Ruler, Berserker, Beast, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Moon Cancer, Avenger, Alter Ego, and Foreigner. Each class will have its strengths and weaknesses and they will also have advantages and disadvantages against certain classes. You will notice this in the attack triangle during the battle.

If it’s in red, it means you have an advantage against that particular enemy. If it’s in blue, it means they have resistance against you. Each servant will also be determined by rarity starting with 1 star up to 5 stars. The 5-star servants are usually considered more powerful, but that’s not really the case in this game. There are great and useful servants in all rarities, so they don’t really matter in the scheme of things.

You can also level up and develop your servants to make them more powerful. Or burn or sell servants to get mana prisms or other goodies. However, it’s not recommended to do it in the early parts since you’ll need all the servants you’ll get. You need to be flexible when composing your team since you will likely need certain servants in various situations. So, having options can help greatly.

What To Do After the Tutorial

Like with any role-playing game, you’ll undergo a tutorial in the beginning before delving into the Fate/Grand Order game. The tutorial will teach you the basics of gameplay. But what will you do after that? Well, it would be best to just continue with the story progression of the game, which means completing the campaign levels.

Once you have trouble progressing a bit, this is the time when you try to focus more on developing your servants. This would mean gaining experience to level them up, collecting more resources to get gear, and so on. The game features other quests that you can take advantage of to get more rewards. There are daily quests, event quests, and so on. You see that you’ll really do a lot of battling here, not only to progress but also to get stronger.

Don’t Forget to Get Stronger Friends

Fate/Grand Order is also a multiplayer game, which means there are also other people playing the game around the world. You can add these players as friends, which will allow you to use their servants as well. This is why it’s important that you also befriend powerful friends, so you can have access to powerful servants that you don’t have. This will help you in completing difficult battles.
