It’s an interesting puzzle game with cute and aesthetic graphics. But the question is if you will really have fun playing this puzzle game? Let’s answer that question in this Hamster Town review. We’ll discuss what’s good and bad about this game and see if it’s really worth downloading.

Hamster Town’s Gameplay

To help understand the game better, let’s first discuss Hamster Town’s gameplay. The main goal here is to get the candy to the hamster by solving puzzles. The hamster and the candy are usually separated by a gap or obstacle. And you need to draw a line to narrow that gap to complete the level. For example, the candy can be sometimes suspended in the air and your job is to draw a line to make sure it will fall towards the hamster.

Aside from feeding the hamster, you will also earn coins and stars for every puzzle you complete. The stars are determined by how much pencil lead you have consumed. The less pencil you use, the more stars you earn. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, Hamster Town is not just a puzzle-solving game. It also has a decorating and summoning aspect to it. You may use the coins you earn to gacha a hamster to live in the Adorable Hammie House. Then, use the stars to decorate the interior; adding furniture and items inside.

The Good Thing about Hamster Town

Indeed, Hamster Town has fun and interesting gameplay. Let’s now discuss what’s good and bad about this puzzle game.

Cute Graphics

Probably the first thing that will attract you to this game is its cute graphics. The developers used cartoonish graphics that made the entire look adorable and pleasant. If you’re scared of any kind of rodent, even in games, you won’t have to worry. The hamsters here are adorably cute so there’s really no way you will be scared or terrified of their look.

Simple but Dynamic Gameplay

Another thing that’s great about Hamster Town is its simple and dynamic gameplay. The main gameplay would be the puzzle sequence where you need to get the candy to the hamster. As easy as the gameplay sounds, this game is also challenging in its own way. Drawing lines to overcome gaps and objects needs some good analytical skills to make sure the candy will reach the hamster perfectly.

There is also a decorating and summoning character featured in the game. So, you have to make sure to earn enough stars from the puzzle game to do both things.

This added dynamic to the gameplay makes it more fun to play because you will have other things to do. Playing puzzle games might be fun and interesting, but it can get a bit boring and repetitive. So, adding the decorating and summoning feature provides another element to the gameplay.

What’s Bad About Hamster Town

Needs More Ways to Earn Stars

Probably one of the biggest complaints about the game is that you only earn stars via playing the puzzle game. Though early on, the stars you earn were enough to keep you from playing, it becomes more difficult to earn enough of them as you progress further. This is because the puzzle becomes harder to solve, thus spending more pencils. Shorter pencils mean lower amounts of stars earned; making it harder to decorate the Adorable Hammie House.

It would have been great if there were other ways to earn more stars like a mini-game, lucky draw, and so on. This would greatly help in earning more stars and decorating the house.

Lessen the Ads

This is more of a nuisance and something that not all players will complain about. But it can be a bit annoying at times to have ads suddenly pop up after completing several levels of puzzles. So, it is a great suggestion to lessen them a bit. It’s great that some ads are used as a way to get hints, but it would be even better to lessen the ads popping up suddenly on the screen.

Verdict for Hamster Town (4.5/5)

Hamster Town is a fun and interesting puzzle game to play that also offers an added dynamic to the gameplay. There are some things that the developers could improve upon, but they’re minor inconveniences. This is why we rate this game with a rate of 4.5 out of 5. This means it’s definitely worth downloading and playing. Play now!
