Rogue Adventure Goblins

Rogue Adventure is one of those unique RPGs that you will find in the freemium market. Part of what makes this game one-of-a-kind is the card-based gameplay system. Compared to other RPGs, you do not have to explore dungeons, open-world maps, or talk to NPCs. All you need to do is make sure that your deck will survive and pull through all the challenges that lie on your chosen path.

Rogue Adventure promises a “roguelike” experience that the game does not fail to deliver. In other words, this game is designed to challenge players in real-time and will punish those who do not have the proper skills and tactics.

Beyond its modest gameplay mechanics is a skill-based game that requires strategic planning, tactical analysis, and resource management. With that said, having an overview of the game’s basic elements, mechanics, features, and combat will be beneficial to your progression.

The game also features a wide selection of maps, a diverse roster of enemies, boosts, upgrade options, skills, and various difficulty modes just like your basic RPG title. Rogue Adventure’s challenging and unique gameplay structure received tens of thousands of five-star ratings from players across the globe. Most of the acclaim points to the game’s skill-based gameplay which is challenging and highly addicting resulting in a high rate of replay value.

Rogue Adventure Cards

Similar to RPG characters, cards are base on race, rarity, and type. There are two types of cards in the game.  First, it is the Combat Cards which come with a sword symbol, and Magic Cards with a bolt symbol. Cards are sorted into six races – Angel, Beastman, Demon, Fairy, Robot, and Neutral.

Similar to RPGs, the race of a specific card will play a role in its efficacy. Nevertheless, the majority of the cards in the game are Neutral which means that they will work with any of the five races.

Gameplay

Rogue Adventure is a game that is easy to learn and challenging to master. From a third-person perspective, the game is all about destroying the enemy card on the board with your deck. As simple as it may look, there are several factors that you need to consider to win every match and clear every map in the game.

Class

Class plays a significant role in your in-game progression due to the bonus and boost that they provide. The game features 12 Classes – Warrior, Wizard, Assassin, Necromancer, Paladin, Shaman, Ranger, Druid, Engineer, Barbarian, Pirate, and Rune Master.

Each class comes with a specific requirement to unlock except for the Warrior. That said, we will focus on how you can take advantage of the benefits of this class. A successful run with the warrior class will hasten the unlocking process of the other classes.

Warrior Class Abilities & Upgrades

Warrior Class, as the name suggests is beneficial for combat cards. The base ability of this class will award the player 1 shield every time you play a combat card. You can upgrade this in the merchant store for 300 gold. Once upgraded, 3 resistance points will be awarded to the player for every successful block.

Completion of the Normal mode will unlock the Inferno mode which will provide the class with additional bonuses. The first bonus will allow the player to start the game with the “Knowledge of Resistance” skill. Beating Inferno 5 will unlock the second bonus. This factor adds an additional shield for each combat card played resulting in a total of 2 shields.

The third bonus becomes available after beating Inferno 10 which prevents players from losing temporary resistance or strength at the end of each turn. Your starter deck in this class is made up of four fighters, three guards, and one mage.

Tips on Deck Building

Rogue Adventure is all about building a reliable deck that can plow through every challenge the game throws at you. Your deck needs to have a good balance of offense, boost, and defense to withstand the punishment of each level. In addition, you also need a solid plan when crossing the map. With that said, below are some of the strategies and methods that you can use.

Skip the Elites

On your first run, your deck is going to have generic cards which, for the most part, come with basic attributes. Elites are powerful enemies indicated by a skull with a golden crown. That said, it is highly recommended to work your way around Elites as they can destroy your deck on a whim.

Building Your Deck

You can look for a path wherein a treasure chest or a merchant after an Elite, Do not attempt to fight a succession of two elites in a single run if you are just a beginner.

Merchants are your Friends

Merchants provide a safe environment for you to recharge, acquire additional cards, upgrade your class, and purchase skills. When plotting your path on the map, always look for a merchant that comes after a boss or an Elite. This is because fighting tough enemies will sometimes deplete your HP thus, having a merchant after a difficult fight is important.

Choose your Cards Carefully

Rogue Adventure will offer you access to cards as part of your rewards. Most of the time, the game will present you with three cards and a number of gems to choose from. In line with that, always consider the attributes of the cards offered and skip them and go for the gem instead if necessary. In other words, do not take bad cards since they will saturate your deck and will lessen the chance of the good cards appearing on your active deck.

Also, always remember that fewer cards boost the chances of spawning a powerful card on your active deck. Moreover, when choosing a card while in the starting class, always look for the ones that can provide you with additional mana, one example is the Lady of Knight card which provides one mana for every combat card on your deck.

Defense over Offense

Rogue Adventure is a skill-based game which means careful planning and strategy are required. As a beginner or a new player, you need to consider your defense more than your offense. As much as you want to quickly eradicate your enemies, you won’t be able to unless you have a solid defense. No need to rush and remember that consistency is the key to defeating your enemies.
